"Approxmiately one year ago I represented a large contractor on a multi-million dollar claim against the California Department of Corrections (CDC). The CDC had employed the services of Trauner Consulting Services, Inc. (Trauner) as a consultant. After a year of discovery, we conducted a day long settlement conference in Sacramento at which time trauner put on an analysis of the CDC's position regarding the claim. Their work up was comprehensive, detailed, and compelling. Had we proceeded with the litigation, I am certain their analysis and their strong witnesses would have been formidable hurdles for us to overcome. That did not happen, however, because, as a result of this experience, my client elected to take a substantial discount and settle the matter.
